Modern Mount Royal

Over the past several years, we have been fortunate to work with our Modern Mount Royal clients on multiple projects, either with them or their extended family members.

We were grateful to once again collaborate on a newly purchased 1930s character home. After searching for months, they found their home on a quiet, tree-lined street, in a mature inner-city neighbourhood and decided to start by renovating the main floor.

Working with architect, Miles Burgoyne, and our team, our clients wanted to modernize their new home, while maintaining its original charm. After demo was complete, we began by installing two structural beams between the living and dining spaces, creating an open floor plan. The peninsula-style kitchen was designed to maximize countertop space over a small footprint and incorporate traditional design elements of face-framed cabinets with shaker-style doors. During the construction process, our clients embraced the many opportunities that arose to maximize storage using small nooks. Their mini library that is tucked under the stairwell, made a small hallway feel purposeful and much bigger. Whether it was lacquering the curved window and door casings; installing wide-plank oak flooring; or using brass hardware throughout - each and every selection was made with the utmost attention to detail.

At the end of the project, everyone who worked on it wanted to move in, which speaks to the heart that went into this home. We look forward to working with these clients for years to come.
